Oregon: Day 3

Had I the choice to go back, and ride from Salem, OR to Caldwell, ID (where I spent the night) again, I would not take Hwy 20 again. It was 55 mph two land roads of wind and landscape parallel of Wyoming's I-80. At least the ride to Sisters, OR was nice though. After Sisters, it was crap. Check out the map and enjoy the pics.

Oregon: Day 2

Not really a whole lot special happened on day two. Just a lot of rain. It was a short day; much shorter than I had anticipated. So here are a bunch of pics, and you can follow the path on the map. One thing that was really frustrating, was the 55 mph in Oregon. After I got off of Hwy 26, the roads did get considerably worse. But a dry bed in a one star hotel was a welcome rest.

Oregon: Day 1

I decided to bring Willrow Hood along on the trip so that I wasn't the only in the photos. My original plans were to leave by 8 A.M. Wednesday the 9th of June, but as I woke up and saw the rain falling, I opted to drag ass in loading up the bike. By 10:30 AM, we were on our way.

Since most of my trips west start out North on I-15... out of habit, that's what I did. By the time we reached Malad City, Idaho, I was already kicking myself. Luckily, we found a great scenic route that put us on I-84 (where we should have been all along). Hwy 37 and then some no name county roads had us back on track. Our next stop was a needed one in Sublett, Id. We had been riding with the "Low Fuel" light illuminated for what seemed like 50 miles, and the "Hills Have Eyes" gas station on the Sublett Road Exit was a welcome sight.

Continuing on I-84, the weather was really nice, and the only rain I ran into the whole day was that in Logan. After a quick taco at a truck stop near Twin Falls, it was on to another fuel stop in Boise. The trip to Boise was slow, as both lanes of the Interstate are currently pushed into single lanes for most of the distance. Another hour past Boise, is partly condensed into single lanes, and we finally left the free way in Ontario, Oregon!

We were able to follow Hwy 26 all the way to Praire City, where we camped for the night. Hwy 26 is a biker's dream! Great asphalt, no traffic/cops, twisties galore, and huge elevation changes, I was all smiles! We ended up riding 500.8 miles before we set up our camp. Prairie City was full of camping bicyclists. There were at least 8 camped in my same camp ground, but I was the only motorcycle in town. In the hopes of saving some cash, I opted to buy some food from the only store open after 6:00 PM: Mini-Mart. One bad of Doritos, a jar of queso, a package of ham, and $13 later, (I would have been better off going to the local bar) and we were ready to settle into the tent for the night and feast.

Logan to Salem

Every once in a while, an opportunity comes along for a great adventure. And as Anthony Hopkins' character, Burt Monroe, in the World's Fastest Indian said, ""If you don't go when you want to go, when you do go, you'll find you've gone." That in mind, T-Hun will be setting off from Logan, Ut. for Salem, Or to attend a friends wedding. Stay tuned for a later post(s) on his adventure.

'04 FXDXI Spring Ride

It's been a long spring in Utah. In fact, it's still not over as the 40 degree rain proved today. That didn't stop T-Hun from busting out the FXDXI as soon as the roads were semi snow free.

Iron Stallion Racing Participates in Elementary School Program

Most parents wouldn't be too excited about their elementary school children attending a motorcycle rally. However, that isn't the case at Bridger Elementary School in Logan, Utah. Students had the opportunity to give hi-fives and cheers as a group of local motorcycle enthusiasts paraded throughout the school grounds and then parking for a mini rally on the school grounds this past Friday, the 25th of September.

Students had the chance to walk around the bikes and ask questions to the motorcyclists. Iron Stallion Racing riders Eric Gardiner and Trent Hunsaker took part in the Elementary rally. "It's for the kids," says Gardiner, "You can't help but smile as they ask for your autograph." Students who have excelled this year were able to be "Hog Helpers" and stand guard at the bikes reminding other students not to touch them.

The school rally is put on every year by motorcyclist and Bridger Elementary teacher Polly Chug. Although this was Iron Stallion Racing's first time to participate, we for see this as an annual event on our calender.
